Tina May, Nikki Iles and Tony Coe
8.30 Tuesday 17th March 2009
Whether Tina May is singing swinging jazz or beautifully performed ballads, her enthralling voice has a soft liquid tone which is perfectly complemented by the magic piano touch of her long-time musical partner Nikki Iles.
Joining them tonight will be tenor saxist and clarinetist Tony Coe. His astonishing talent was discovered in the 60s by Humphrey Lyttelton who wrote: "He is one of the most remarkable and brilliant musicians in the world. The sheer range of his musical activity is staggering and testifies to an awe-inspiring instrumental mastery."
Notice, no drummer or bassist. Just three international stars, by themselves, a wonderfully-matched trio who will be producing some of the most interesting and sensuous live jazz you’re likely to hear, and we think this is definitely a concert not to be missed.
