Dick Pearce trumpet Trudy Kerr vocal Tom Cawley piano Geoff Gascoyne bass Sebastiaan De Krom drums Vocalist Trudy Kerr brings her band to the club with a programme dedicated to the music of that king of West Coast cool, Chet Baker, using the arrangements made famous by Gerry Mulligan taken from her tribute album, “My Old Flame”. Hailed as “one of the country's most polished singers” by The Times, Trudy has released nine CDs, recording with some stellar names in jazz on both sides of the Atlantic including Michael Garrick, Georgie Fame and Jamie Cullum. With Trudy is her usual “working” band comprising of double bass–playing husband Geoff Gascoyne, who was responsible for the arrangements during his time with Jamie Cullum, the excellent drummer Sebastiaan de Krom and on piano the extremely talented and youthful Tom Cawley, whose own band Curios has garnered much praise. No tribute to the music of Chet Baker would be complete without the sound of trumpet or flugelhorn and to top out this already fabulous line-up the mellifluous tones of Dick Pearce will be heard in abundance. Dick, as part of the now legendary Ronnie Scott quintet, was famously given the nod of approval by none other than the late, great Oscar Peterson. Once again, this promises to be a night to remember. |
