Martin Drew Quintet Concert
8.30pm Tuesday 19th May 2009

Martin Drew drums
Mornington Lockett tenor sax
Jim Hart vibraphone
Paul Morgan bass
Steve Melling piano

Martin Drew, who was Oscar Peterson's drummer for a number of years, leads this fabulous quintet which recalls the jazz era that many consider the UK’s finest - the late 1950s when bebop was in the ascendancy, and the most influential British band of the day was the Jazz Couriers led by the tenor saxophonists Tubby Hayes and Ronnie Scott.

Tonight's musicians will recreate some of that legendary quintet's original scores.
