Peter King alto sax Leon Greening piano Andy Clyndert double bass Clark Tracey drums Trumpet sensation Henry Armburg Jennings seems to have packed an awful lot of experience into his mere 21 years. Already one of the hottest talents to emerge on the British jazz scene, he is much in demand for his straight-ahead style, and has not one but two bands of his own; a big band, and the quintet that will be performing for us tonight which, as an almost unbelievable bonus, includes alto sax legend Peter King. Henry’s style is influenced by the legendary Clifford Brown and his experience as a session man has seen him perform regularly at the Bulls Head, the Jazz Café, the 100 Club and Ronnie Scott’s. With him are members of his regular band, pianist Southampton born and bred Leon Greening, plus Andy Clyndert on double bass, and replacing the sadly missed Martin Drew on drums is the ever-excellent Clark Tracey. Expect some real fireworks from this stunning, hard-driving post-bop quintet – we do hope the Soul Cellar is well insulated! |
