Bone Supremacy was formed earlier this year as a musical labour of love by a group of the country’s top jazz musicians, to recreate the music of
Five-a-Slide, the trombone band that was extremely popular around the jazz clubs and festivals in the 70s and 80s. So far, all their gigs have received rave reviews for their dazzling playing and witty presentation style.
Their repertoire covers a wide spectrum. As co-leader Adrian Fry says, “A band with five trombonists needs to be diverse, especially as it must hold the audience's attention for a couple of hours.
“We therefore have made a conscious effort to play a variety of styles, from the traditional Muskrat Ramble, to evergreens like Stardust, through to Michael Brecker's Delta City Blues – and if you thought that was awesome on
tenor sax, wait until you see five trombones playing it!
“You'll not only hear some stunning playing but we will also entertain you. You can have a lot of fun with a trombone! If you put five of them together you have a mixture that is sure to put a smile on your face!”
Andy Flaxman trombone

Mark Bassey trombone
